One of our electricians had a recent experience with a customer that hired a handy-man to install a new breaker on their electrical panel. Instead of actually using a new breaker, this “handy-man” installed a used breaker in their panel. Well, that used breaker had several loose connection points to the busbar (the metal bar that provides power to the panel). This used breaker caused resistance to build up at the connection points inside the breaker, resulting in the breaker heating up- and where there’s heat, there’s the risk for fires! Electrical fires are very dangerous and often result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
